I guess this has been happening for a while now over on Facebook, but then I don’t know how many people are on the site. It seems to me that recently a LOT of people — like myself have logged on, seen a few friends, and gotten back in touch… But, let me warn you — it’s a jungle out there for the novice “Facebookee” when one gets in touch with old friends, and at times some not so “old” friends, too.
You see, the Obama “War” has spread to that corner of the interwebs and was in rare form today — well, I guess it’s yesterday now as I write this. I’ve just come from the very trenches and there are a few things I can say with first-hand experience…
Both sides of the “Obamacare” Battle within this “Obamawar” have staked their ground, and at times have called for reinforcements… Although it seems that those in favor of government-regulated, and controlled, and OWNED Healthcare have a rather quick temper, and were the ones calling in for backup and ridiculing others who didn’t “go with the program” today. Score one for the “good guys” today, IMHO.
Today I have seen grown adults acting like children, unable to control their spite and hatred. They proceed to seethe with their words, all the while telling each other that it is the other “group” of people — “those people” — who were the ones who are heartless, and cruel.
A small, very sarcastic part of my being – which makes me feel like praying for forgiveness – watches with glee when the most innocuous of statements causing all manner of twitching and accusations among my extended family of friends and acquaintances on the internet. Say one word — even about HOW people are “fighting” in this battle of words and you become the focus and the target of their rage.
I also noticed that sometimes it was the very people who brought up the whole healthcare debate, or encouraged, and supported outlandish statements, such as those recently printed in the Huffington Post, the posts on Democratic Underground, and other left-friendly publications.
It was those same people, who were in too many cases, then backing down right away with no real information — nothing but spite. It felt as if they would feign not wanting to talk about it, or debate anything. It felt as if they perhaps preferred instead to stay within their “comfort zone”. (Hmm… where have I heard that phrase before? Oh, yeah, Michelle Obama when she announced what her husband was going to “make us do”.)
Anyway, today I found out who not to click on when I see the “add a friend” button in a different way than usual, and to tell you the truth, I am grateful for that… It’s painful to see your new and old friends wrapped up in the song and dance that is the pseudo-messiah, Obama.
Well, that the risk you take when you stand up for what you believe in I guess. Everyone is bound to feel the pain in one way or another… However, I would rather lose a few friends, and feel a little pain versus feeling a lot of pain later on for having said nothing of how I feel about this administration, and this plan to gather everyone into a bureaucratic nightmare that would be the Federally owned Healthcare system. At least I can look my children in the eyes…
I just had to share this video with everyone…
On a CNBC show this morning one of their economics correspondants who regularly reports from the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange decided to really tell the world how he feels about Obama’s proposed Mortgage Bailout…
In the interest of time, which I have been severely lacking lately, I will let this exchange — where normally silent traders actually can’t resist getting a few words in themselves with — speak for me on this issue, too.
In fact, if this sounds like something you’d like to be involved in as well – perhaps we should all drop Mr. Santelli a line over at CNBC — here is a link to the CNBC Feedback page.
There must be some kind of masochistic streak in me as I felt compelled to watch the “peaceful change of power” in Washington D.C. today. There are a few things I wanted to comment on here as the day is still fresh in my mind.
America’s Reputation Across the World
Over the last 8 years there has been much whining and gnashing of teeth by those on the “left” side of the political spectrum here in the U.S.. Many of their complaints have had to do with the idea that people in Europe, and the Middle East, or even the “whole world” hate the United States and all we stand for in their eyes. While those who would agree with America’s “left/liberals/socialists”, and those who believe the propaganda pushed out by her enemies about her (the same enemies of Freedom and Liberty – especially Religious and Social Liberty) may express the notion that the U.S. is a bully, or worse a “terrorist” country — the truth is they know a country like ours with its Constitution, and democratically elected Representatives stands in the way of their plans of control, and their greed.
Now, something I will agree with that I’ve heard complaints about – particularly when it comes to Europeans talking about Americans – is that there is a large portion of our country’s people who act rudely. (Perhaps, rudely isn’t the right word — it’s not strong enough. Perhaps “classless” would be a better term for it. A lack of civility, graciousness, politeness, respect… That’s what I see as missing among a great number of people in our country – and when it comes to this aspect of our Country’s reputation I somewhat agree with them!
One of the best examples of this “classless” behavior was witnessed by the world yet again today when during the inauguration itself some very disrespectful Obama supporters went out of their way to make complete asses of themselves by disrespecting President Bush, and by extension even the office of the Presidency that their “savior” now holds. These people were representing America today in the eyes of those whose opinion of us they have worried so much about… They should be very ashamed of themselves right now, because there is something lacking in their character to allow themselves to treat this like some sporting competition.
Below you can see the video of President Bush being announced and the crowd’s reaction.
The Reappearance of “Hussein”
Apparently, now that the election is over, it is once again alright to use Barack Obama’s middle name. I did notice that when he was announced to the crowd they stated his name as “Barack H. Obama”, but during his oath he used his full name, “Barack Hussein Obama”. I wonder what version of his he’ll use when he signs the new Socialist/Communist laws the Democrats are trying to pass under his Presidency – perhaps his (as far as we can tell) legal name; Barry Soetero?
Speaking of the oath of office, it seems that Obama may have benefitted from the use of a teleprompter as he made a few flubs. So much for the “cool under pressure” exterior we’ve grown so accustomed to seeing. Perhaps the magnitude of the moment caught up with him just as President Bush felt the weight of the world lifted off of his shoulders… This could perhaps be one of the few times we see this overly polished “organizer” showing his nervousness.
Below, if you are so inclined, you will be able to watch Barack Obama take the Oath of Office.
Well, I guess all there is left to say at this point is “what’s done is done” and now we must work to limit the amount of damage to our liberties and our safety as possible — we’ve got our work cut out for us as Congress has already been busy introducing a variety of different bills that basically assure the destruction of our way of life. Tomorrow we will take a look at some of the more egregiously Unconstitutional proposals already on the table in Congress. Together, perhaps we can convince enough “moderate” Democrats that these actions are bad for our nation that we can stop some of them from passing.
In the meantime, please pray for God to bless and protect America, her military, her patriots of all “stripes” and her true allies — as well as all people of the world who wish to live in peace and liberty.
